Day
1
- Fly to George Airport
and rent a car.
- On your way to Knysna
stop at the Dolphin viewpoint, Wilderness, to admire the stunning
view. You may even see the Choo-Tjoe train cross over the bridge.
- Visit the Knysna
Tourism Bureau where the elephant skeleton is. Pick up brochures for
the rest of your stay.
- Book into your
accommodation place in Knysna and then catch the sunset at the
Oystercatcher, the new oyster bar at the Knysna Quays, Waterfront
Drive.
- Get an early night
sleep so you can be fresh to tackle a full day.
Day 2
- Go on a trip to the
Featherbed Nature Reserve. The ferry departs at 10h00 and returns at
14h00. Have lunch at the Nature Reserve.
- Spend the afternoon
shopping or browsing through the interesting arts and crafts shops. Do
not miss the Knysna Fine Art Gallery, Blue Stairs Gallery, Lynn
Schaefer, Die Ou Fabriek, Rustic, The Old Goal, The White Elephant
shop, Woodmill Lane and many other interesting shops
- End off the day at one
of our many restaurants or nightspots.
Day 3
- Arrange for a picnic
basket from 34 Degrees South and take a trip into the Knysna
indigenous forest. Jubilee Creek is the ideal place for a picnic.
Thereafter visit Mother Hollys tearoom and walk around the restored
Bendigo goldmine.
- In the afternoon go for
an adventure excursion such as canoeing, horseriding, abseiling,
diving or visit the Knysna Elephant Park.
- End the day at the
Knysna Heads viewpoint.
Day 4
- IF you are interested in
wood then visit Belvidere TImbers on the Welbedagt road, or Woodmans
Timber Agency in the Idustrial area. There are also many shops in town
that sell wood products or furniture. Knysna is known for its
wooden birds produced by Feathers. Visit their shop at the
waterfront.
- The afternoon could be
spent doing an historic walk through town. (Pick up the book called A
Walking Tour of Knysna at the Tourism Bureau)
- Drive back to the airport
and if you have time to spare, visit Buffalo Bay for a swim or watch
the surfers ride the waves.
